In Florida, hurricane season is just part of life. Many locals don’t leave their homes to avoid even massive storms, choosing instead to hunker down and ride it out. So,when news stations reported in October of 2018 that Hurricane Michael was expected to hit the Florida Panhandle, it wasn’t surprising when many residents opted to shelter in place. Travis Watkins, manager of the Mercury test facility in Panama City, and Mercury-sponsored B.A.S.S. angler Drew Benton were among the Floridians of Panama City who opted to ride it out. The two had never met, but they both survived similar challenges from Hurricane Michael. Watch “Perspectives” to see their inspiring story. #GoBoldly #MercFilm
I’m proud to say I help build the building y’all have to work out of and know that it withstood the storm. I worked for pybus electric and helped with the wiring of the facility. God bless and hope y’all have a safe hurricane season.

Nicole, most don’t realize the tight knit community of PCB. I know y’all do. I lived in PCB many years ago on Pinetree just blocks from the beach and across the lagoon from Lagoon drive in a hurricane vacation home. I always wondered when the next big storm would hit. It is always great to see people of a community rise up and re build especially when many from across the county didn’t really think that storm was that bad. Floridians truly #GoBoldly

Jason Russell Yes, this is a really tight knit community. It's a blessing during times like these! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. This area is still devastated but we are #850Strong.

Brenda and I spent 10 years in Panama City with Mercury Marine. Great as the location is in regards to the waterways and resources, the people are what made our time there special. Even as strangers, people were always asking how they could help us. As Travis mentioned, "things" come and go but its people helping people that make life special! Brenda Anderson Nesslar
